Big Value Coffee
BIG VALUE — 100% PURE is a Hoffmann-Hayman package-retail line documented once, on the 2 March 1942 typewritten wholesale package-coffee price sheet: a single SKU, 4-lb bucket, no premium, 83¢ — a no-frills, value-tier format at the bottom of the 1942 seven-brand roster (H and H, San Antonio, Texas Girl, Anita, Texco, Big Value, Cafe Coffees). No advertising, packaging specimen, or trademark filing has been identified for the name. It drops out of the roster by the 5 May 1960 corporate product list (Master Chef, Master Chef Instant, H and H, and Texas Girl only).
This page is a placeholder pending further primary-source evidence — see 1942 H&H Wholesale Price Sheets for the full sheet transcription and context.
Open questions
- No specimen (bucket, label, or ad) has been catalogued for Big Value — is any known to survive?
- Was “Big Value” an H&H-original economy line, or a renamed/relabeled acquisition (parallel to the Texco/Wesco/Misa Morrison lineage)?
- When did the line launch, and when did it retire (sometime between 1942 and the 1960 roster)?
