Huntley Mfg. Co. Monitor Coffee Roasting, Cooling and Stoning Machinery — Supplementary to Catalogue No. 64

The companion piece to the peanut spare-part catalog from this eBay lot — also from cheeseheadpicker — is a Monitor Coffee Roasting, Cooling and Stoning Machinery supplement to Huntley Manufacturing’s Catalogue No. 64. The cream cover carries the full table of contents: Four-Bag Model (pp. 3–5), B Style Self-Contained (pp. 6–8), Rear View No. 3 with motor clutch drive (p. 9), Peanut and Cereal Roaster (pp. 10–11), Sample Roaster (pp. 12–13), Steel Cut Roller Coffee Granulator and Chaffer (pp. 14–17), M.P. Pedestal Granulator (p. 18). The Silver Creek imprint places this in the earlier production period.
Every model in this catalog has a direct connection to H and H’s documented production history. The Four-Bag Model and B Style Self-Contained are roaster configurations of the type described in the 1923 San Antonio Light factory spread, which credits Monitor automatic roasting at the 331 Burnett Street plant. The Steel Cut Roller Coffee Granulator and Chaffer is the grinding equipment that produced the “Steel Cut” grind designation H and H marketed on its retail labels alongside Regular Grind and Drip Grind. The Sample Roaster is the small-batch evaluation roaster that would have supported the cup-testing work documented in period photographs of Dave Crowe and Gus P. Menger tasting. This catalog, supplementary to No. 64, captures the Monitor equipment generation in use at H and H during its 1920s expansion into the 601 Delaware Street era.
