The 10 August 1924 San Antonio Express-News (page 30) carries the boxed DEATH NOTICES. column with the HAYMAN entry — the formal record of the passing of William Edward Hayman, co-founder of the Hoffmann-Hayman Coffee Co. and the H in H. & H. The notice puts the death at 1:15 p.m. Saturday, August 9, 1924, at his residence, 1018 Kayton Avenue, “in his 59th year” (placing his birth c. 1865–66), names his widow Mrs. Anna Hayman, and sets the funeral for 4 o’clock Sunday afternoon at the same residence under Rev. Frank S. Onderdonk, with Hagy & McCollum directing and interment in Mission Burial Park. Six pallbearers are listed: J. Sutcliff, W. M. Marvin, Frank Cunningham, Hal Tucker, L. B. Stoner, H. S. Affleck. With William R. Hoffmann dead since January 1912, this notice closes the founding generation of the firm; G. P. Menger and the next-generation Menger officers continue the company through the 1920s expansion.

HAYMAN — Died on Saturday, August 9, at 1:15 p. m., at his residence, 1018 Kayton Avenue, W. E. Hayman, beloved husband of Mrs. Anna Hayman, in his 59th year. Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services Sunday afternoon, August 10, at 4 o’clock from the residence, 1018 Kayton Avenue, Rev. Frank S. Onderdonk officiating, under direction of Hagy & McCollum. Interment in Mission Burial Park. Pallbearers: J. Sutcliff, W. M. Marvin, Frank Cunningham, Hal Tucker, L. B. Stoner, H. S. Affleck.
