FIRE DAMAGES TUCKER COFFEE PLANT 2D TIME
The second fire within six months in the roasting room of the Tucker Coffee company’s plant at 828 North San Marcos street caused approximately $1,200 damage early today.
S. Cartinez, 904 North San Marcos street, discovered the fire after hearing a muffled explosion, he told firemen. The blaze was confined to the rear of the roasting room, and although 25 sacks, each containing 25 pounds of coffee, were destroyed, approximately $8,000 worth was saved by the quick action of firemen in extinguishing the blaze, A. A. Walker, manager, said.
Between $10,000 and $12,000 damage was done to the coffee roasting plant on last July 1 by a fire which began in the roasting room. Cause of neither fire is known, Walker said.
A barn containing hay and other feed was partially destroyed by fire which was discovered at 144 Mayfield boulevard, outside the city limits, earlier in the morning. Loss was estimated at $200 by firemen.
