$2000 Loss in Coffee Fire at 601 Delaware St. — San Antonio Light, 11 August 1947
News item: fire at the H & H Coffee Co., 601 Delaware St., believed caused by spontaneous combustion, caused $2,000 damage to contents late Saturday night. Fireman G. E. Gilley from No. 2 station suffered a cut below the left eye when a hose struck him.
This is the latest documented fire incident at the Delaware Street plant, adding to the 1928 office and plant fires already in the primary record. The spontaneous combustion cause is consistent with the fire risks of green coffee bean storage and roasting operations.

Fire, believed to have been caused by spontaneous combustion, did $2000 damage to contents at the H & H Coffee co., 601 Delaware st., late Saturday night. Fireman G. E. Gilley from No. 2 station suffered a cut below the left eye when the nose of a hose struck him in the face as he was descending a ladder.
