Albert Menger Elected Coffee Firm President — San Antonio Express-News, 5 May 1960

A San Antonio Express-News news feature on 5 May 1960 (page 20) announcing Albert G. Menger, 42 as the new president of Hoffmann-Hayman Coffee Co., with G. P. Menger moving up to a newly created board chairman post and R. W. Menger elected executive vice president. The article names Master Chef Coffee and Master Chef Instant Coffee as the first two products in the company’s published consumer-and-institutional lineup (followed by H and H Coffee and Texas Girl Coffee), reports the firm as serving “more than half of the San Antonio area’s restaurants, cafes and other institutional coffee users,” and gives the company’s founding year as 1904 — a date that conflicts with the 1899 founding date used elsewhere on this site (project lore traces the firm to the 1899 W. R. Hoffmann–W. E. Hayman partnership; the 1960 article’s “established in 1904” may refer to incorporation, a partnership reconfiguration, or be a newspaper-shorthand error — see Hoffmann-Hayman Coffee Company for the founding-date open question).
