Hoffmann-Hayman Coffee Co. Illustrated Letterheads

1 minute read

A sheet of Hoffmann-Hayman Coffee Co. letterhead, one of two in the lot. The masthead runs a dark banner with “Hoffmann-Hayman Coffee Co.” in white serif caps, the red H and H Coffee oval logo at center flanked by “COFFEES” and “TEAS”, and a secondary line reading “WHOLESALE ROASTERS and IMPORTERS — SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS.” The officer line at the very top names the Menger family — G. P. Menger President, R. W. Menger Secretary, T. J. Menger Treasurer — the generation that took over the company after the factory was built in 1932 (see the Minnie Hoffmann family-history post for how the Menger side came to run H and H).

At the foot of the page is a line-drawn illustration of the 1932 factory itself: the two-story industrial building with its rows of window bays, the loading-dock wing with cars pulled up, and a small fleet of delivery trucks in front. The illustration is anchored on the “WE ROAST IT — OTHERS PRAISE IT” banner that appears on nearly every H and H package and sign in the collection.
