HOFFMANN - HAYMAN PLANT + + + MODERN THROUGHOUT

The attractive manufacturing plant pictured above is now under construction by the Hoffmann-Hayman Coffee company at Delaware street and the S. F. tracks. It is designed by Morris, Nooran and Wilson, architects and engineers in the Builders Exchange and will provide 16,000 square feet of floor space. Occupancy is expected to take place by October 15. The company is located at present at 331 Burnet street, where it has been for 10 years.

Del Rio News Sunday school and night church services at Mt. Olive Baptist church were splendid. The newly organized Junior choir rendered songs at the services. Rev. James Fenster, pastor. Sunday school at Bethel A. M. E. church was well attended and the lessons were very interesting and well directed. The Jelly Girls Club entertained at a Watermelon feast Wednesday night in the moonlight. Lots were played and everyone was very active. Guests present were Misses Walter Lee Cooper, Irma Grant, Johnnie Mae Jolly, Misses Eva Mae Reme, Mrs. Alice Myrtle Wilson and Dorothy H. Smith. Messrs Lonnie Hawkins, Clarence Payne, Eugene Carpenter, and Bessie, Murry Harry. Mr. Andy Conner spent a pleasant visit in El Paso. Sunday July 24, the Milwaukie Club Giants and the Del Rio Black Cats crossed bats. The game was in favor of the Cowboys. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Johnson and Mrs. D. L. Floresville News Rev. R. B. Hurd filled his pulpit at Ebenezer A. M. E. Church Sunday 24th. Services were good. The free barbeque given by the Lone Star Glee Club at Bethel Baptist Church was the greatest event of the season in many respects. The Sunday school at Bethel A. M. Hoffman-Hayman Coffee Plant Under Construction Declaring the present time to be the best time to build and having as their purpose the encouragement of others to build, the Hoffmann-Hayman Coffee company has announced a new plant under construction at Delaware street and Southern Pacific tracks. Designed by Morris, Nooran and Wilson, architects and engineers in the Western National building, the structure will provide 16,000 square feet of floor space and will be one of the most modern plants in the state. Of fireproof construction, the building faces on Delaware street will provide the necessary features. The Hoffmann-Hayman Coffee company is one of the pioneer coffee roasters in San Antonio, having been in business for more than a quarter of a century. The business was founded by William R. Hoffmann. It has been in its present location at 331 Burnet street for 10 years. Work on the new plant began last Monday and the 60 employees of the organization expect to be in their new location by October 15.

Columbus News Smith Chapel Baptist Sunday School opened at the usual hour by assistant Supt. Miss L. Collins. The lesson was well taught by each teacher. Seven new members were added to the Sunday School B. Y. P. U. at 6:30 p.m. Rev. Fowler, pastor of the A. M. E. church worshipped with us. The class is well taught on the subject ‘What is Gambling?’ Why is it wrong?’ Class No. 2 is the banner class of the B. Y. P. U. Miss G. V. Hayes, teacher. On Tuesday night, July 19 Smith Chapel Baptist Church and members rendered service at the A. M. E. Church. All reported a fine time. St. Paul Sunday School opened at the usual hour with the assistant superintendent present. District Supt. Ellis gave a short review of the lesson. At the 11 a.m. service, the District Supt. preached a wonderful sermon and at 8 p.m. he preached another soul stirring sermon that set every christian heart afia with the spiritual fire. St. Paul lost one of its faithful members. July 24 in the person of Mrs. Jane Scott, mother of Mrs. Nancy Huffman and Mrs. Maranda Williams. The funeral was held July 25th at St. Paul M. E. Church. On Friday, July 22, the St. Paul Social Club gave a dance at the

Seguin News Mr. Herman Hammond, Mr. Maud Perryman and Miss Boyce Marie Stell motored to Yorktown for the wedding of Mr. Wilbur Campbell and Miss Clara McNeil Wednesday, July 25. Mrs. Lorena Grand of Yorktown is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Perryman. They entertain a few of their friends with a Spanish Machacor Fish Fry Tuesday night, July 19. Sunday morning the following picnic was to take place on the property of Mr. Wilbur Campbell. Mrs. W. A. Tolliver, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Richard and family, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Pitts of San Antonio, Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Wright, Mrs. Odessa Edwards of Calvert, Mrs. Mary Carter of Phoenix, Ariz. Mrs. Sallie Miller, Prof. Wallace Fingas of Little Sophia, Leo Conally of Houston. The Smart Set Social Boys met at the home of Mr. Alvin Hanks at 1220 S. Guadalupe street. After a lengthy business meeting, the host served a delicious lunch. Whist and High five were played. A new member, Mr. Willis Clark, was added to the club.
