Menger Hotel European rooms — San Antonio Light, 13 November 1915

Boxed display advertisement for the Menger Hotel on Light page 5. The hotel carries no Hoffmann–Hayman copy, but it is the deepest family root in the H&H story: the Menger Hotel was opened in 1859 by William Achatius Menger, grandfather of the Hoffmann-Hayman Mengers — Gus P., Minnie, R. W., T. J., and L. B. — through his daughter Catherine Barbara Menger. By 1915 the hotel had long since passed out of family hands (sold to the Kampmanns in 1881), but the Menger name running on this San Antonio masthead is the same family that ran H and H Coffee a few blocks away.
