Death notice for Theodore J. Menger, 91, who died Monday, March 30, 1987. “Mr. Menger was the last survivor of the original owners of the H & H Coffee Co., and the last survivor of the pioneer Menger Family, the original owners of the Menger Hotel.” He was the son of the late Dr. Rudolph W. Menger, M.D., Pioneer Physician of San Antonio.

Survivors: nieces Charlotte Belcher (San Antonio), Barbara Ann Ernst (San Antonio), Rose Marie McClung (Round Rock), Mildred Holliday (Lake L.B.J.); nephews Albert G. Menger (San Antonio) and Stephen G. Menger (Canyon Lake); numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Services at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 2, Zizik-Kearns Riebe-Saunders Funeral Home Chapel; interment Mission Burial Park South.

Theodore J. Menger (T. J. Menger — listed as Treasurer in H&H officer records) died at 91 in 1987, placing his birth around 1896. He is listed as one of Minnie Schlosser’s six brothers in the 1956 obituary and as a brother of Rudolph W. Menger in the 1985 obituary. His death closed the founding generation’s chapter.

Theodore J. Menger, 91, died Monday, March 30, 1987. Mr. Menger was the last survivor of the original owners of the H & H Coffee Co., and the last survivor of the pioneer Menger Family, the original owners of the Menger Hotel.
